Bringing Baby Home
A Survival Guide To The First Six Weeks

" The 4th Trimester"

The only class of its kind on Long Island

In today’s society, the focus of information is on your pregnancy and how to cope with labor. This is a unique class that highlights the moments immediately after the birth and beyond into the sixth week. This class begins where your childbirth class left off !

This class is intended for both partners.

It will prepare you for:

  • The things your friends are not telling you about.
  • What to expect the first 6 weeks
  • How to baby-proof your marriage/partnership
  • How to make the transition from pregnancy to parenthood with as little stress as possible
  • How to understand your emotional and physical changes
  • Signs of postpartum depression
  • How to ask for and get the help you need
  • Breastfeeding tips and resources
  • Help you to create a "postpartum plan"
  • Tips on dealing with unwanted family advice
  • How to enjoy your baby
  • Infant care
  • Resources for families

This class was started out of desperation. As a new mother who seemed to be very well educated on my pregnancy and going through labor, I felt very unprepared when I finally brought my son home.

As a postpartum doula, I have walked into the homes of many other women who have felt the same way. When I started doula work 10 years ago, I began asking mothers what they felt they weren’t being told about bringing their baby home. This class is a compilation of my experiences as a mother and a doula.
