Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes

Childbirth Education has been around for many, many years. When “Lamaze” is mentioned, most people think of the breathing techniques. However, breathing is no longer the hallmark of Lamaze Childbirth Education. Today, we are committed to helping women and their families have the natural, healthy and safe birth they are looking for. Women have an inherent ability to give birth and Lamaze not only support this ability, but instills women with the confidence they need to deliver their babies.

Taught by a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE), these 6 weekly Lamaze classes are designed to help give you the information you need to have a healthy and fulfilling childbirth experience.

Lamaze, itself has expanded its concept from being just a method of childbirth to an entire philosophy.

The philosophy is as follows:

  • Birth is normal, natural, and healthy.
  • The experience of birth profoundly affects women and their families.
  • Women's inner wisdom guides them through birth.
  • Women's confidence and ability to give birth is either enhanced or diminished by the care provider and place of birth
  • Women have the right to give birth free from routine medical interventions.
  • Birth can safely take place in birth centers and homes.
  • Childbirth education empowers women to make informed choices in health care, to assume responsibility for their health and to trust their inner wisdom.

These classes include a curriculum that supports birth as normal, natural and healthy, and empowers women to make informed decisions. Class content that includes normal labor, birth and early postpartum; positioning for labor and birth; relaxation and massage techniques to ease pain; labor support; communication skills; information about medical procedures; breastfeeding; and healthy lifestyles.
